Corinne Ray honors the women in my life who have influenced me. This brand reflects strong women who love all things fashion and beauty, in addition to, the daring and bold. I am Creole and the Creole heritage is of mixed nationalities similar to Corinne Ray’s style and brand. My heritage is deeply rooted in its traditions and culture. I was taught the main aspect of the Creole family unit is the matriarch who keeps the family together. This included household duties as well as clothing the family. Take a good look at the traditional Creole matriarch of the Creole family. You will see she was femininely dressed precisely alongside her family.

The matriarch of our family was my paternal grandmother who happened to be one of the most influential people in my quest for fashion. She was a self-taught seamstress who passed this gift on to her daughters. This skill influenced me greatly because I saw her transform rags into beautiful pieces of clothing. My entire childhood consisted of watching her sew for many people near and far. She made wedding and bridesmaid dresses, and even men’s suits. There was nothing she couldn’t create! We designed many of my own outfits from my simple drawings- never having a pattern! In fact, she redid my senior prom dress to add unique touches I felt the dress needed. I learned so much about fashion by watching her create so many things.

My mom was the primary key to my fashion inquest. In 2013 she was tragically killed in a car accident that changed my life forever. She enjoyed extended shopping sprees across the country when we traveled. Her love of fashion, along with her keen eye for quality clothing taught me the relationship between quality fabric and cost. She loved fashion and always dressed me & my brothers in the latest trends. She was the baby girl of her 7 sisters and was quite close to them.  Growing up, she visited them often which gave me a glimpse of their unique style and helped shape my own love for fashion. As a child, I loved my mom’s sister’s name - Corinne. In my eyes, it stood for femininity and beauty. Ray is short for my mom’s middle name.

The Corinne Ray woman?

SHE represents the eclectic ardor for fashion & style without compromising quality for cost in the same way my mom loved so much, as well as, the femininity and beauty that my grandmother & aunts passed on to me.
